THE HUMAN IMPRESSION

Virtual Exhibit | May 1st- June 11th, 2020

Humans Of The Earth Gallery is proud to present Andrew Ciminelli’s solo exhibit “The Human Expression”.

Ciminelli’s sculptural works are notable for their experimental tactile nature, and their perfect detailed finish evidently bears witness to his impeccable craftsmanship. By focusing on techniques and materials, Ciminelli wants to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition and alienation.

The body of work, “The Human Impression,” exemplifies the impact that humans have on the natural world. No matter where humans go, we leave some kind of footprint; a sign that there was someone there. This can be anything from a literal footprint to trash floating on the ocean or 100 thousand acres of land burnt to a crisp from a cigarette butt.

Ciminelli states “I believe that almost everything we think that is “natural” has some amount of impurity or alteration by mankind. Nature has been moulded into something we can drive to, place power lines across, see online and dispose our garbage too. Even supposedly remote locations that can be accessed only by backpacking, have been gutted to put trails and campgrounds so hikers more easily travel through. Altering nature to allow more traffic and convenience leaves a greater impression and toll on these lands. By working in a modern Cubist style the body of work will portray a natural world, altered from the many humans that left their impressions behind.”
